My family and I have very sensitive skin; can we use the surmanti products?
We use only the safest products available. Our entire line is free of preservatives with no artificial fragrances or colouring, making it ideal for even the most sensitive skin (and children). We use ingredients in their pure and raw state, preserving the rich vitamins and minerals. Our products are free of parabens, sodium lauryl and laureth sulphates, mineral oils, dyes and harmful chemical, which studies have been shown to cause sensitivity.
What is the shelf life of the products?
Preservatives are used to protect products from bacteria; artificial preservatives, such as parabens will keep an opened product free from bacteria for around 5 years. As the surmanti products don’t contain any artificial preservatives the shelf life is around 12-36 months. Bear in mind that heat, moisture and dirt introduced into a product will reduce this further. surmanti uses pumps, tubes and spritz bottles to avoid contamination.
What are the dangerous chemicals that I should watch out for?
Parabens, sodium lauryl and laureth sulphates, mineral oils, dyes are common ingredients used for a variety of reasons – preservatives, foaming agents, because they are inexpensive or to make a product look good. While not everyone will react to these ingredients straight away it is the long term exposure that is most concerning. According to Dr. Samuel Epstein and David Steinman, authors of The Safe Shoppers Bible, some cosmetic ingredients are possible players in health problems such as cancer, multiple chemical sensitivities and some birth defects. However, no one is exposed to just a single dose of one particular chemical. A 2003 study conducted by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found more than 116 different chemical compounds, including dioxin (by products of chlorine that have been linked to cancer) and phthalates that impair our reproductive function, in a wide range of personal care products used by the adults and children sampled. Their exposures came from routine everyday use.
Why haven’t I seen surmanti advertised in magazines?
It basically comes down to money…but not how you think! Some companies spend a lot of money on advertising; the aim is to get the product recognised. If you have a certain budget and use most of that on marketing how much money will actually be used on research and quality ingredients? Every surmanti product is the result of careful research and formulation, highest quality essential oils, plant extracts and other organically based materials which means you receive the fastest, safest and most enduring results. We believe our products market themselves.
Is the packaging recyclable?
surmanti uses HDPE plastic for their packaging. HDPE plastic is fully recyclable ending up as items like milk bottles, plastic bags or drainage pipes. It is as easy as adding the empty container to your household recycling collection.
I have heard about your Stress Release Spray, can it be used if I am already using painkillers?
Stress Release is a topically applied blend of ingredients known for their healing properties. Ingredients like Arnica, Lavender and Tea Tree oil have been used for centuries to assist with healing due to their antibacterial and soothing abilities. Topical products work on a different level than pharmaceutical painkillers so Stress Release is perfectly fine to use in conjunction with your medication. Any concerns always seek professional advice.

Why is the cuticle oil and some of the other products packed in black bottles?
Sunlight can destroy the beneficial properties of organic oils turning the product rancid. surmanti only uses pure certified organic oils in their products therefore it makes sense to protect against the harmful UV light by using black bottles.

I am concerned about all the media hype surrounding discount nail salons – how can I be sure to pick a safe one?
Firstly if the Salon has a strong pungent smell it’s a good indication that MMA (methyl methacrylate) is being used. This is outlawed in almost 50 States in America – for a good reason, it is DANGEROUS.
Secondly if the bottles they are using have No labels or have a budget look – doing a bit of research would be advisable BEFORE getting your nails done. If they claim not to understand English – BUYER BEWARE
Lastly one of the most overlooked HORRORS is NO disinfection or sanitisation. If the technician is using files, implements and other articles on more than one client with out being disinfected – YOUR HEALTH IS AT RISK. If the technicians table is covered with dust and debris from previous clients WATCH OUT.
surmanti disinfectants are a germicide, disinfectant, bactericide, sanitise, and deodoriser. They kill the HIV-1 virus, Staph, Strep, Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis. They are also non-toxic, biodegradable & environmentally friendly solutions that can be poured directly down the drain or disposed in domestic waste. They do not contain harmful chemicals. Remember the old saying rings true here! You get what you pay for!
Can I use surmanti products with other products I already have?
To achieve optimum results it is always best to use products within the same product line. However, because surmanti products contain no harmful chemicals you can feel confident to combine them with your other products.
Can I do bulk orders as I want to get my staff Christmas Presents?
Absolutely, the easiest way is to phone our head office. We can discuss what you would like for your order.
I want to do a manicure at home but how do I know what to do?
surmanti’s Executive Manicure Pouch and Homecare Kits come with easy to follow instructions.
What base coat would be best for me?
surmanti fights ageing with its must have treatment bases available in 5 versions, each targeted formula appropriate for different states of life. Simply select the right one for you based on your age. For many reasons – fatigue – poor diet, allergies, hereditary & the main culprit, ageing, it is a fact that as we get older our cell turnover & collagen function naturally decrease. Believe it or not, this begins as early as our 20’s and continues at an increasing rate.
Can I use the exfoliants on my face?
The skin on our face is a lot thinner than on the rest of our body. It is bombarded daily with pollutants that can damage and sensitise these delicate layers. While the Sugar Exfoliant MAY be gentle enough for SOME people, it is not generally recommended as they are designed for use on the body. The Pumice Exfoliant is excellent for removing dry skin on the body but definitely too harsh for the delicate skin of the face. Watch out for our new skin care range launching soon.
I can’t decide on what fragrance to go with. What are you most popular ones?
With such wonderful scents it’s no wonder you are having difficulty choosing. Choco-lait - with its sultry aromas of dark chocolate, essences of honey, raspberry & caramelised apple blended with notes of vanilla, patchouli & sandalwood, is definitely a popular fragrance. However if you are looking for a more unisex aroma Balance engages the senses to invigorate and refresh the mind, spirit and body.
I ripped off my fake nails and now my natural nails feel weak and have ridges on them?
Unfortunately when we rip off our acrylic we take off layers of the natural nail, leaving them thinner and more uneven than normal. surmanti’s Trauma Kote has been designed to stop peeling, help soothe and promote the healing of nails damaged by acrylics and other artificial products. It is also a good idea to keep your nails short until they are stronger.
My nail polish keeps peeling, what should I do to stop that happening?
There are several reasons why polish peels of the nail. Before you start, make sure that you have removed all traces of old polish and residue from the nail – any moisturiser or oil on the nail will ruin a good job. Always ensure you start with a specially formulated Base Kote, this acts like double sided sticky tape – sticking to the nail and sticking to the colour, it also helps to protect the natural nail from staining. Apply lacquer using 2 (or sometimes 3) thin coats, keeping the layers thin allow them to dry properly – thick coats tend to bubble and peel. Always wrap the polish over the edge as this helps to minimise chipping. Even if you are in a hurry remember to end with a Top Kote, they are designed to protect nail polish, making it more durable and giving extra shine. For best results apply your surmanti top coat every second day. Choose Tough Kote, Flash Kote or Mirror Finish.
My nail polish has gone thick, how can I fix it?
Evaporation happens every time we open the bottle. Old polish changes consistency and becomes thick and lumpy; it won’t have the staying power of newer polish. If you can’t bear to toss your favourite colour add a few drops of surmanti’s Reviver to make it smoother. Do not use polish remover as this contains oils that will ruin the polish.
One of my nails has lifted off from the underneath, it doesn’t hurt – but is wobbly feeing?
You might also find that ‘stuff’ is getting stuck underneath it. There is a chance that you have a fungal infection on the natural nail. If this isn’t treated it could lead to permanent damage to your natural nails. Kombat applied under the free edge of the nail is recommended to help alleviate the problem. Be sure to advise your technician as removing your artificial nail may be recommended until the problem is solved
I use hand cream every day but the skin around my nails always looks dry and ragged, can you suggest something?
It's great that you are using hand cream as often it’s our hands that show the first signs of aging. Remember to protect you hands, use gloves when dealing with household chores. surmant’s SPF Moisture Crème contains only beneficial ingredients to combat dryness with the added bonus of sun protection. You may need to groom your cuticles, apply a drop of Organico Healing Cuticle Oil to the area surrounding the nail, massage and gently push back the skin. If they are especially bad, use surmanti’s Cuticle Remover – this gently breaks down excess cuticles and calluses and helps promote healthy nail growth. DON’T be tempted to cut or trim the cuticle, no only does this open the way for a bacterial infection but the cuticle will actually grow back thicker.
